In this class, you’ll learn every step, from creating a soft, pillowy dough to preparing a mouth-watering filling and mastering the art of steaming. Get ready to impress your friends and family with these delectable Chinese treats!

Dough

  • 2.5 teaspoons (1 packet) active dry yeast
  • 1 cup lukewarm water (approximately 1/3 hot, 2/3 room temperature)
  • 30 grams  granulated sugar
  • 280 grams cups all-purpose flour, plus extra for dusting
  • 70 grams cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Filling

  • 1 lb (about 450g) pork mince (ground pork)
  • 2 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium onion or 2-3 shallots, finely diced
  • 2-3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 50 grams ginger, minced 
  • 2 tablespoons Char Siu Sauce
  • 1 teaspoon five spice
  • For Thickening & Finishing:
    • 1/4 cup water
    • 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water (slurry)
    • 1-2 green onions, finely chopped (optional, for freshness)
    • 1 teaspoon sesame oil (optional, for aroma)
